Candles are a home necessity, especially when it comes to the colder months. They make any room feel cozy, and a good candle will make your home smell amazing. Winter offers all kinds of warm scents like cinnamon, pine, or gingerbread. However, our favourite candle so far is completely universal- coffee! You love coffee, we love coffee… so why not turn your extra beans into a familiar scent for the whole house?
Make Your Own Coffee Candles!
You will need:
○A cute glass container or mug
○Wax chips, or chopped up wax from an old unscented candle
○Coffee beans (use your favourites!)
○Chopped vanilla beans (for a more “french vanilla” scent, optional)
First, melt the wax. You can do this by using a microwave safe bowl, or creating a double broiler. To make a double broiler, just place your wax chips in a heat safe bowl, and put that bowl on top of a pot of boiling water. The wax should melt in about 5 minutes.
Glue your wick in place at the bottom of your mug or container. Then, pour a small layer of melted wax on top of it. Add a layer of coffee beans and chopped vanilla beans. This is where the amazing scent will come from! Repeat the process until you fill your container, or have the candle size you desire.
Use a layer of coffee beans right near the top of your candle for aesthetic appeal. Let the wax harden, and trim the wick if necessary. Now you have your very own coffee candle to help get you out of bed on those cold winter mornings!
