There’s nothing quite like a canine companion. Whether your pup is loyal, cuddly, rambunctious, young or old, you probably know what we mean. It’s nice to have a faithful friend who snoozes on your couch, trots beside you on your way to the park, and races after their favourite ball like their life depends on it! If you’re thinking of getting a dog, why not consider adoption? After all, there are plenty of adorable pooches just waiting to be whisked away to their forever home. I am particularly involved with Pound Dog Rescue, and I highly recommend them to all fellow dog lovers!
Pound Dog operates in Southern Ontario, rescuing, rehabilitating, and re-homing strays and abandoned dogs. All of their adoptive dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, heartworm tested, de-wormed, and microchipped. Rescued pups with this organization stay with foster families, who are very willing to tell you everything about “their” pooch! To see who’s currently available for adoption, look here. If you love dogs, but are unsure that you can make a lifelong commitment or afford the financial responsibility, why not try fostering? Fostering a dog can be an incredibly rewarding experience. With Pound Dog, all food, veterinary, and supply costs are covered. However, this is not a commitment to be taken lightly. Rescue dogs will need a stable home environment, with patient and loving owners. Foster parents should also be willing and able to drive their pup to veterinary classes and fundraising events.
